Good to know

Step into our spacious great room, bathed in natural light streaming from floor-to-ceiling windows that nourish both your spirit and cultivate the greenery of the built-in planters. A kitchenette, complete with a microwave, induction burner, toaster, and compact fridge awaits. Enjoy meals at the four-top Italian wood dining table, perfect for both takeout and home-cooked delights. The space also features a dedicated workspace, a cozy living area with Roku TV, a convenient sit-in bar top, and eclectic bookshelves where you can unwind with a CD or two on the Bose speakers. For fresh mountain air, open the windows and skylight, or turn on the evaporative cooler for a refreshing breeze in the early afternoon. Peaceful Retreat Bedrooms Off the great room, two well-appointed alcove bedrooms await, each featuring a queen-size bed, memory foam toppers, and hotel-quality linens. Both bedrooms offer direct access to the full bathroom. Embracing Earthship Comfort As an Earthship, this home embraces unique, sustainable design. While there's no central heat, you'll find a propane space heater in the main room, a wall heater in the main bedroom, and an electric space heater in the second bedroom to ensure your comfort. Shared Outdoor & Spa Amenities Spa & Yoga Retreat A stone path leads from your guest house to our shared spa/yoga area, offering a custom built-in hot tub with jets and a waterfall, exclusively for your private use. A beautiful rock wall frames the spa, providing commanding views of both Santa Fe city lights and the majestic Santa Fe National Forest mountains. Relax on an antique Indian oxcart daybed, or enjoy our yoga mats, aromatherapy, a 3/4-bath slate tile bathroom, and a stereo system. These areas are shared with the main house but we do not use them at the same time as guests. Sunset Terrace & Infinity Tub Above the spa, you'll find another shared sitting area with a picnic table. This is the ideal spot to witness exceptional sunsets over the Jemez Mountains and the twinkling city lights below. A rooftop infinity hot tub is also available, accessible from dawn to dusk.

Other Details to Note

Our home is situated up high in the mountains and we have regular sightings of mule deer, gopher snakes, ravens, and the occasional black bear, bobcat, and mountain lion. We've done our best to ensure you'll have no unwanted guests, but we do not use any chemicals that could harm humans or wildlife. As is noted in several places, this is an entire detached guest house earth-home construction across the ridge from a main house with shared spa areas between. Our unique Earthship home embraces its natural surroundings. The thick earthen walls and indoor trees create a truly special atmosphere. While we love being connected to nature, this means the occasional friendly insect might make an appearance – it's all part of the authentic Earthship experience! If you prefer a more sterile environment, this might not be the ideal stay for you. Due to extreme wildfire danger, we don't allow any smoking or fires on the property. We welcome all travelers. Love is love. All ages are welcome, but our open access hot tubs, pond, wildlife, cacti, and planters mean that the property is not particularly infant/child friendly.

***While intermittent snow turns Cielo Alto into a Winter Wonderland, winter weather will require 4wd, snow traction devices, and winter driving experience to safely navigate our road.*** Please note that the 1mi unpaved and somewhat bumpy road traverses and switchbacks up a steep hillside and does not have guardrails. While a standard car can certainly make it, a higher clearance vehicle will be a more comfortable ride. This guest earth home sits high above Santa Fe on a ridgetop adjoining the Santa Fe National Forest. We are surrounded by juniper, piñon, cacti, and other native flora. This unit is the guest test which sits across the ridge from the main house with the spa areas that are shared between. From our doorstep you can enjoy commanding views of the Santa Fe National Forest, the City of Santa Fe, the Jemez Mountains, and the plains and mountain ranges toward Albuquerque. Private parking is available in front of the guest house and garage parking can also be made available. We are 7.2 miles from the plaza, 2.2 miles from Harry's Roadhouse, and 3.3 miles from I-25.

It’s absolutely beautiful on the very top of the hill, incredibly peaceful having the two hot tubs was amazing. Stunning views, loved their sustainable values, it really aligned with our own values and really aligns with our owns the owners were always available to help as well! Absolutely would return! The road on the drive can be a bit daunting right at first, but the owners have done very well at making sure that it’s easy for compact SUVs to traverse up to the top, and you should be fine as long as you’re not going in winter then you might need chains

This home and property were so cool, one of the coolest air bnbs i have ever gone to. My favorite area was the spa room and area. There is a cool indoor hot tub w a waterfall, and that space was so nice, a great view of santa fe from the comfort of indoors but also at ground level. There is also coloring, mini water colors, and origami. Def recommend. 11/10! Also very clean but not toxic smelling. Their soaps are very natural smelling.

Beautiful Casita at the top of a hill. indoor and outdoor hot tubs; relatively close to downtown and a very responsive host. There was a little bit of rain during our stay, but still no issues navigating the unpaved road.

My partner, pup, and I enjoyed a lovely few days of staycation at Casita Cielo Alto. Situated up a private road on top of a mountain with beautiful views of Santa Fe one way and a cascade of evergreen trees the other way, the passive solar casita is spacious and comfortable, nicely furnished with lots of thoughtful touches. The adjacent yoga/indoor hot tub building had gorgeous views and a nice tub with waterfall, shower and WC, a day bed and space for stretching; or just sitting on the banco and beholding the scenery. We also enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Great photo ops for sunrise and sunsets, a wonderfully peaceful place to get away from it all. The host was gracious and responsive; this place is definitely worth the climb to get there. Highly recommend.

An absolute gem of a property, very unique and situated at the top of the world overlooking Santa Fe. Beautiful and Serene setting with great hosts. If you plan to arrive and soak right away, please let the hosts know to warm up the hot tubs for you. You won't want to miss the views from the rooftop hot tub.

We absolutely loved our time here. We did a day trip hiking and another day in Santa Fe. All an easy distance to drive. This place was a heck of a drive up the mountain… and wow! Was it worth it. Spectacular views. Stunning home. 2 hot tubs! The spa was peaceful and private. Had everything we needed and more. I felt so relaxed here. Totally pampered in the ambiance. Sad to leave, but hope to return one day. Thank you for hosting us!

Ethan & Becca’s space is truly incredible and one of a kind. Watching the sunset from the roof top hot tub was the highlight of our stay. Our jaws dropped when we saw the waterfall for the indoor hot tub. The AI assistant was incredibly useful, allowing us to heat the hot tub while out picking up some groceries. We would love to stay here again!

Location

Please exercise caution as you drive on our unpaved road to and from the property, particularly in inclement weather. While a sedan will certainly be fine, a higher clearance vehicle is recommended for your comfort. Please note that the road traverses and switchbacks up a steep hillside and does not have guardrails. Winter weather will require 4wd, chains, and winter driving experience.
